[An assigned date is honestly a hilarious way for her to go on her first Real Date (is it even a real date? She's not sure this qualifies), but Ringo is 100% here for it. I mean, it promises to be interesting, and Saizo, Milady and Arrow all have such funny and differing reactions to the idea of a "date"...

So she's enthusiastic as they meet up, peering around curiously.]

Where do you wanna go? What kind of dates are you interested in anyway?

[ He cannot believe this is his first date^TM he's been on, ever.

Not him trying to play it cool!! ...Which means, unfortunately, her enthusiasm is met with a casual shrug of his shoulders.

Okay, maybe not that casual. There is a distinct stiffness in his shoulders. ]

Uh... [ Ahem. Quick, Machina, think of something girls like...! ] D'you like boba tea? Could start with that.

[He's doing great! If she knew what he was thinking, she'd be so proud, but as it is... she mostly just thinks maybe this guy doesn't like dates.

Eh. It's fine. She's hung around way less personable people.]

Never had it. But I'm down to try just about anything. You know of a place?

[ Okay... Okay. Step one, establish a location. Step two, bring the date to said location. Machina is nothing if not a perfectionist, or rather, he's someone who tries to be, giving his all no matter what task is asked of him. Regardless of this is an assigned date, he's determined to do good by it even if he's completely clueless as to how besides a few cliches, such as gifting flowers.

Oh, shit. He didn't bring flowers. That's already a mistake! ]

--Uh, yeah. There's one a few blocks down that way. [ He pauses, turning his head to look in the direction he indicates, then looks back at her. ] They've got all sorts of flavors. [ He pivots, adjusting his school bag over his arm. Then, in an effort to sound composed with already one (1) mistake on board, he evens the tone of his voice, offering a small, friendly smile. ]

[Oh, nice! A smile. Okay. This is going even better than initially anticipated. Damn, this date this is so easy! What's Saizo even complaining about?]

Sounds good to me! Let's start headed that way then.

[Easy-peasy. Now that they have a destination in mind, they may as well make some small talk along the way, right?]

Now's a good time for us to get to know each other better, right?

[ And so they begin walking in the direction of the boba tea shop.

At her question, Machina glances sidelong at her. ] That's how these things are supposed to go, aren't they? [ She's kind of the preppy sort, isn't she? It causes him a relax further, just a bit. Just a teeny tiny bit, because his posture remains faintly militaristic. ]

So, then... [ "Get to know each other". Right. Better to start simple. ] How do you like the city?

[The way he asks that suddenly makes her think maybe he's not as familiar with dates as she thought... oh no... if he doesn't know dates and she doesn't know dates, who's driving the car???

... It's fine, just keep rolling with it and it'll be fine!]

Hmmm, this city... it's pretty decent. A little low tech compared to what I'm used to, but that isn't a bad thing.

I like how things are always going on, and the people are interesting too.

[It can still be pretty shady though... which she supposes isn't a bad thing?]

What about you? You knew where this boba place is, so I guess you've spent some time looking around and everything?

[ He opens his mouth, then abruptly shuts it. Best not to reply with a stiff It's best to know one's surroundings to be prepared. Even he knows that's No Fun on a date! ]

You can say that. [ --So he settles with this, instead. ] There're a lot of interesting things here. Much more than what I [ A pause. ] remember from back home.

small>[ He exhales. ] I can't even imagine a more technologically advanced place.

[He's trying so hard, and she is so unaware.]

Yeah...? It's not all it's cracked up to be, so.

[It comes with a healthy side dose of ~dystopia~.]

I'd rather hear about where you come from. Even if there are lots of interesting things here, you must have your fair share of interesting things back home, right?

[ Meanwhile, he's struggling to keep himself from sounding overly serious or too dour. Unfortunately, speaking of home happens to be one of those topics that do cause his expression to become tight and a frown to reform, albeit briefly.

His homeworld isn't really the nicest of places, but there are at least a few good things. ] We have... chocobos? They're large birds that soldiers ride.

[ As he speaks, his tone lightens. ] Like horses, but fluffier.

[Hmmm... The first thing he can think to talk about about his home is the giant birds there? Ringo definitely can acknowledge that'd be pretty cool to see, but it wasn't what she was expecting him to focus on first.

Maybe home isn't the best topic after all.]

And riding them doesn't squish them? [... huh!] They really must be big... tough too! Are their bones hollow like other birds?

From what I know, not as hollow as flying birds, but not as dense as mammals. [ Wh knew that in all of his years of learning how to take care of a chocobo, this information would come up in conversation on his first (1st!!) date ever. ]

Did you ever do any sort of... riding in your homeworld? Or are you more experienced with vehicles?

[Wowwww... she notes all of this down inwardly, even though she has no idea when the knowledge would serve her. Still, that's part of the fun of being "human", right? Just knowing things for the sake of knowing... it's kind of fun.]

Never ever. I know of it, pretty much... but I've never ridden a horse. Or a giant bird.

[Vehicles.... She looks thoughtful at that.]

I haven't driven anything either, but I think I know the technicalities, so it'd probably be fine if I had to?

[ There's probably some other creatures in the On-world, other than horses and giant birds, that people can tame and ride-- not that he has tried, himself. As for machinery-- ]

No harm in trying. [ He smiles faintly encouragingly, glancing at her. ]

I always learn how to pilot something. Something about being able to fly in the air seems so... freeing.

[Oh that's cute... She grins at him, nodding.]

No time like the present to try, right? I'm sure you can give it a shot while you're here.

[She claps her hands together.]

After boba, let's go see if we can find a way!
